Jim Selleck
Jim Selleck
Keyboards, Saxophones, Guitar, Lead Vocals
Member since 1987

Starting in high school (Pinckney, Michigan), Jim Selleck received his musical training as a guitar player. It only took him about 13 years to figure out that he should be playing keyboards instead. He started teaching himself how to play piano while attending Michigan Tech University, inspired by the virtuousity of Jazz Lab band pianist
Chan Pollock.

Dropping out of engineering school, Jim went home to southeast Michigan and played lead guitar in a series of forgotten combos, all the while maintaining an interest in playing and writing on the piano. Jim toured with Maxfield Blue in 1980, then joined Jerry Hoelscher's band Hytimes, working with friend and sax-master Don Edwards. Jim was Lead Singer during his 5 years with Jerry, and literally learned how to sing during that time. Early tapes of Jim's singing have all been destroyed, by Jim, with good reason.

In 1986, Jim joined Donna Marie and Motion and was introduced to the Detroit live music scene, performing in many venues, and as the first live band to perform on the Detroit river cruise ship, Star of Detroit (an adventure later repeated with the Dittilies).

Finally, fate and fortune brought Jim to the Dittilies.
"...and the rest is history."

Married to Bev since 1991, Jim is a proud dad and (in his day job) is a computer systems guru. He is the webmaster of the Dittilie web site.
